Earth Hour is a movement to support reducing the greenhouse emissions. One of the its way by switching the light off for an hour at March 29, 2008 during 8pm. Dozen cities are joined the initiative that also supported by WWF. One of the city, Melbourne just joins this simple action.
It is believed reducing the electricity usage could help reducing the greenhouse emissions. Most of the power station are still powered by fossil-fuels. Less electricity usage, less fuels needed. Much power is needed during the night as more lightbulbs require power.
What about Jakarta? I did not see the initiative either from the government or public at the moment. No one is organizing this yet. We may not need this here as several area, at night, are sometimes experiencing black-out anyway due to fuel shortage in the power station

Maling, thieves, robbers, and the kind will be happy if that happens. Jakarta people is famous in taking advantages in difficult situation. (Mengambil kesempatan dalam kesempitan..)
